How Projects Work
From a real need to a closed, reported project
Every project on the platform follows the same transparent process, from publication to the final report.
Open-ended or time-bound
Some projects stay open until the target is reached; others run to a fixed deadline.
Closed and funds sent
When a project completes or reaches its deadline, it is closed and the funds are sent to the intended group.
Contributions stay anonymous
Contribution amounts on the platform are kept anonymous.
Progress is reported
Progress reports are obtained from partner organisations where possible and published as "Project Progress / Completion Reports."
Unused funds are redirected
If a project's need is resolved before funds are transferred, or a project doesn't reach a workable target, contributions are redirected to similar projects by priority.
Where the Money Goes
What happens between your payment and the project
Funds pass through three stages before they reach the people a project was opened for. Each one is worth being plain about.
Nothing is taken for running costs
No administrative or operational costs are deducted from contributed funds. The only deduction is the payment-gateway fee charged by Stripe, which we work continually to minimise.
Delivered through local partners
Funds are transferred to trusted partner organisations who carry out the work on the ground, close to the families a project was opened for.
Currency conversion, handled openly
Contributions are collected in pounds and converted before being sent, so exchange-rate differences can arise. Any shortfall may be covered from the general fund, and any surplus is allocated to other projects.
